When I look, see or hear the word “avocado” I immediately think of all the yummy foods I can eat.(I have lots of food allergies)
OMG I absolutely love bacon and avocado on toast.
BUT…avocado awesomeness is not limited to food.
Avocados give us a number of benefits not just for our tummies but for our skin and hair as well. Here are 3 reasons we love the awesomeness of avocados
Skin Revitalizer
My family and I have a lot of allergies and suffer from skin ailments like eczema and psoriasis.
When making products, whether it be body oils, hair oils and soap bars, I create products my family will enjoy.
Avocado oil is perfect for people like me who suffer from many allergy triggers. It is an amazing helper, during a skin flare up from allergies or even too much sun, because it is full of anti-inflammatory properties.
According to Medical News Today, author Lana Barhum’s article “Eight benefits of avocado oil for the skin” explains, “The antioxidants and vitamins in avocado oil may help to heal the dry, irritated, and flaky skin associated with eczema and psoriasis.”
She also says, “In addition to vitamin E, avocado oil contains potassium, lecithin, and many other nutrients that can nourish and moisturize the skin. The outermost layer of skin, known as the epidermis, easily absorbs these nutrients, which also help to form new skin.” Mother nature is so amazing!
The Scalp & The Body
Skin is a big communicator. When I have an allergic reaction, my skin lets me know immediately. My face, arms, neck and sometimes my legs itch and then I’ll see the little itchy bumps. Can I tell you a secret? The same reaction occurs in my scalp, when I used hair products that trigger an allergic reaction.
Now guess what oil is a staple in my hair products?
You guessed it.
AVOCADO Oil.
This stuff is great for the scalp. I love this as a hair and scalp moisturizer because it soothes the scalp immediately and it’s very light. I hate hair products that weigh down my hair and avocado oil does not disappoint.
Out of all the things I’m allergic to, avocado oil is not one of them. The best way for you to find out if you're allergic is to do a patch test. Then see for yourself why we believe in the awesomeness of avocados.
